Campus Landscape Introduction

The Office of General Affairs has meticulously planned key campus facilities and established approximately seven large and small parks and landscape recreation areas, including the Diligence and Simplicity Park, Aboriginal Park, Pu-Yuan (Simplicity Garden), and the Founder's Memorial Park. The campus open spaces are free to visit. Our campus planning encompasses humanistic elements, planting greenhouses, and green beautification environments. Greenhouses and outdoor coffee shops are set up to provide venues for external guests to observe and learn. We also independently cultivate seedlings for campus beautification, which are open to faculty and students on weekdays. Additionally, the establishment of outdoor ecological classrooms contributes significantly to the creation of a humanistic educational environment.

To achieve the goal of sustainable development for the campus and the community, our university has formulated a "Green Beautification Operations" standard manual. Starting from within, the university actively promotes the establishment of a natural learning environment featuring low-maintenance management, ecology, and humanities. Common seedling types on campus are as follows:

  • Shrubs: Common plant species on campus include Azalea, Golden Dewdrop, Hibiscus, Orange Jasmine, Umbrella Tree, Bougainvillea, and Golden Ficus.
  • Trees (Arbor): Common plant species on campus include Banyan, Royal Palm, Bottle Palm, Camphor Tree, Taiwan Acacia, Machilus, Slash Pine, Taiwan Golden-rain Tree, Taiwan Cherry, Malabar Chestnut, India Rubber Tree, Dragon Juniper, Kapok, Madagascar Almond, Bodhi Tree, Maple, Weeping Fig, Buddhist Pine, Yellow Palm, Beefwood, Chinese Rice Flower, Hong Kong Orchid Tree, Swamp Mahogany, Nageia Nagi, Crape Myrtle, Flamboyant Tree, Chinese Fan Palm, Superb Fig, Indian Almond, and Blackboard Tree.

In coordination with the campus "Diligence and Simplicity" education courses and the curriculum of the Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering, we encourage faculty and students to actively participate in campus and community environmental care. Through green beautification, we provide rest and leisure spaces for the university community and local residents. We also strengthen students' practical learning through "hands-on" and "learning by doing" concepts, organizing environmental education activities such as "Campus Fallen Leaves Recycling," "Campus Guide Training," "Environmental Education Lectures," and "Green University Seminars," cultivating students to become environmentally responsible citizens.

Campus Greenhouse: To meet the needs of various plants for campus environmental green beautification, office buildings, and public spaces, the Corporate Construction Department was commissioned to plan and establish the greenhouse in August 2000, which was officially opened in April 2001. Its primary function is to cultivate various seedlings, thereby saving on procurement costs. Currently, the greenhouse primarily produces seasonal flowering plants and campus greening foliage, with an annual output of about 50,000 plants, and centrally manages the beautification and maintenance of office potted landscapes across the entire campus.
